Artlink, Edinburgh

Artlink is an arts and disability organisation established in 1984. Artlink believes participation in the arts has an important role to play in realising personal and social change.

Below are some projects I have been involved with.

The Western Hospital, Edinburgh, 2009

Are you dancing?

“Emotional states can be transferred directly from one individual to another by mimicry and "emotional contagion," perhaps by the copying of emotionally relevant bodily actions, particularly facial expressions, seen in others. People can "catch" emotional states they observe in others over time frames ranging from seconds to weeks.”

Published 4 December 2008 BMJ

Alice Finbow and Anthony Schrag have  taken donated movements of the staff to create a choreographed dance which was then performed in the Western Hospital Canteen by the staff. The aim being to explore alternative and imaginative ways of being physically and emotionally healthy.

Alex, 2008

Alice Finbow worked alongside the dancer Janice Parker in an artist partnership for Artlink.

In which we worked with several individuals with complex learning disabilities. I filmed and edited much of Janice’s work which were then developed in to short private films for the people she had been working with.
